Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 July 2026
Tunnio is an app for managing your own VPNs on iPhone, Apple TV and Android. It is not a VPN service: we run no servers, we provide no VPN endpoints, and we never route, inspect, or log your traffic. You bring the config for a network you run yourself (WireGuard today), and it stays on your device. This policy explains what that means for your privacy, and the little data that ever reaches us.
Information we do not collect
We have designed Tunnio to hold as little about you as possible. We do not collect or store:
- Accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile on any Tunnio server. You do not give us a name, email, or password to use the app.
- Your traffic. The data that flows through your tunnel goes directly from your device to whatever server your own configuration points to. It never passes through us, and we cannot see, route, or log it.
- Your configuration contents. We do not receive or keep a copy of your
.conffiles, private keys, or tunnel settings on any server.
Data stored on your device
Your VPN configurations, private keys, and settings are stored only on your device. On Apple platforms, some of this is held inside the system's own VPN and Network Extension keychain, because the operating system requires it to establish the tunnel. Tunnio does not transmit any of this to us and does not hold a copy elsewhere. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app removes what is stored on your device.
The local upload server
To make it easy to move a config onto a device that has no file picker (for example, an Apple TV), Tunnio can run a small upload server on the device itself. From another device on the same local network, you open the address it shows, or scan the QR code, and send the .conf over. This transfer stays on your local network. It does not pass through Tunnio servers, and we never see the file. The upload server runs only while you have it open in the app.
Analytics
The Tunnio apps use Google Analytics for Firebase (provided by Google) to collect anonymous, aggregate usage data, such as which screens are opened or whether an import succeeded. We use this only to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used so we can improve it. We never collect your traffic, the contents of your configurations, or your private keys.
This data is not tied to your identity. You can limit analytics collection through your device's privacy settings (for example, by resetting or limiting the advertising identifier). This website itself uses no third-party analytics or tracking.
Subscriptions and the app stores
Tunnio offers a free trial and a paid subscription (Tunnio Pro), sold and billed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. We do not process payments, and we do not store your payment details. Apple and Google handle the purchase, and they may process the information needed to complete and manage it (for example, your store account and purchase history) under their own privacy policies. You can manage or cancel your subscription from your platform's subscription settings.
Third-party services
The only third parties involved in Tunnio are:
- Apple and Google, for app distribution and, if you subscribe, billing. See Apple's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.
- Google Firebase (Google Analytics for Firebase), for the anonymous, aggregate app analytics described above. See Firebase's privacy and security information.
The server your WireGuard tunnel connects to is chosen by you, in your own configuration. It is not a Tunnio service, and how its operator handles your traffic is outside our control.
Children's privacy
Tunnio is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect any data from them.
Data access and deletion requests
Because your configurations, keys, and settings live only on your device, you already control them directly, and clearing or uninstalling the app removes them. If you would still like to request access to or deletion of any data associated with you, email support@tunnio.co and we will respond within one week. In most cases we simply hold nothing to return or delete.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
